“My children now equate their own perception of being Jewish as being accepted, cared for, and feeling connected to both people and to the outdoors as part of their Jewish identity. This is a beautiful thing!”

We are thrilled to share that Beth Caplan (B.Cap) has been promoted to Director of Operations & Staff Experience at Camp Mountain Chai.
B.Cap’s CMC journey is rooted in growth and mentorship, principles that guide her leadership every day. As a teen, she was mentored by her CIT Director, Rachel Saslove. When Rachel later became the Assistant Director at Camp Mountain Chai, she encouraged her to apply, an invitation that stretched her, challenged her, and ultimately helped shape the leader she is today. Today, B.Cap carries that same commitment forward mentoring the next generation of emerging leaders, building strong and thoughtful systems that set staff up for success, and cultivating a culture where every team member feels supported, prepared, and valued.
Over the past 16 summers, B.Cap has grown from counselor to Head of Arts, Program Director, and Assistant Director. Along the way, she has strengthened the operational foundations that allow camp to run with clarity and care. Her deep understanding of CMC from camper engagement to complex logistics paired with her attentiveness to staff wellbeing, has elevated our operations and reinforced a culture rooted in excellence and heart.
Last year, B.Cap joined the Foundation for Jewish Camp Yitro VI Cohort, a highly competitive leadership program, further developing her skills and commitment to innovation in Jewish camping. In her new role, she will oversee operations, staff development, recruitment initiatives, and the overall staff and camper experience, ensuring that every summer is seamless, inspiring, and full of joy.
“Beth brings a steady, vibrant, and thoughtful presence to our leadership team,” says Camp Director, Rachel Shyloski. “She understands the little details and the bigger picture at the same time.” Executive Director, Suzy Sostrin adds, Beth embodies our CMC values, strengthens our community, and leads with heart and excellence. This promotion reflects the remarkable leader she has become.”
Please join us in celebrating B.Cap and this next chapter of leadership at Camp Mountain Chai! 🎉🏕️❤️🙏🏼

As the sun sets and the week slows, Shabbat invited us to pause, breathe, and be present. It reminds us that rest is sacred, community is a gift, and simply showing up is enough.
May this Shabbat bring peace, connection, and moments of light. May its calm carry into the week ahead, grounded and renewed.
Shabbat Shalom CMC!
