What Your Support Means
Your support of Camp Mountain Chai safeguards the invaluable experience of Jewish overnight camp for future generations of San Diego's children. Your support keeps Camp Mountain Chai strong and focused on effectively providing an array of informal educational experiences to those same boys and girls who will become our Jewish leaders of tomorrow. Your commitment ensures the resources necessary to expand the reach of Camp Mountain Chai. Growing numbers of children from varied backgrounds enjoy the opportunity to live a 24/7 Jewish immersion experience, develop relationships with Jewish peers and role models.

The General Fund
Your contribution to the Camp Mountain Chai General Fund enables the leadership staff and board of directors to maximize the benefit of your donation by putting it towards the most urgent needs and exploiting currently available incentive programs.

Exciting New Construction Projects

Amphitheater Revitalization Project
Shabbat services, talent shows, camp fires, song sessions and other camp-wide day and evening programming create so much of the special "ruach" (spirit) at Camp Mountain Chai. The amphitheater comes alive with sounds of campers and staff as they laugh, talk and join in the singing of traditional and modern songs.

The amphitheater revitalization project involves the construction of permanent wooden seating capable of accommodating the entire camp population, lighting for night-time activities, and a deck-style stage with overhead track lighting.
Estimated Cost: $150,000

Health Center/Infirmary
Camp Mountain Chai's safe and healthy environment, supported by a professional and caring staff, is ideal for campers to strive for new heights and achievements. As the population of campers and adults utilizing the facilities grows, so the need for a modern health center increases. Presently, several cabins are utilized as a medical center reducing the available camper housing supply.

The proposed facility includes a reception area, examination and recovery rooms and living quarters for a physician and nurse.
Estimated Cost $450,000

Aquatic Center Restoration Project
Swimming and summer camp go hand-in-hand. The swimming pool at Camp Mountain Chai is the center of carefree, spontaneous summer fun, organized activities and games including the campers' favorite, "Marco Polo".

Camp Mountain Chai's swimming pool complex consists of the pool, surrounding concrete sidewalks, a security fence and a seating area outside the fence. While functional in its current condition, the pool is approximately twenty years old and in need of refurbishment including new plastering and tiling, new plumbing, solar heating and grass for the resting area.
Estimated Cost: $400,000

Playing Field
The creation of a Camp Mountain Chai "community" founded on shared ideals and experiences is a core value. Teambuilding, athletic activities and old fashioned summer camp fun on the playing field are key components in creating life-long connections, memories and friendships.

National Forest Service guidelines prohibit the introduction of foreign vegetation. As a result, during the summer months, the playing field becomes extremely dry and dusty. A synthetic grass alternative has been selected as an acceptable, cost-effective, long-term solution for the playing field.
Estimated Cost: $550,000

Driveway/Acces Road
The driveway leading into Camp Mountain Chai (the only access and egress route to the camp site) is an old, long, narrow asphalt road. Harsh weather conditions, including heavy winter snow and rain, have resulted in the need for significant asphalt patching or replacing.
Estimated Cost: $450,000
