Scholarships, Grants and Discounts


Each year we offer many scholarships, incentive grants, and discounts to all of our camp families. Some programs are need-based, but many others are available without any restrictions. All personal and financial information is always kept strictly confidential, and our staff is always available to answer any questions you may have. We have provided information and options below to assist you.

CAMP GRANT PROGRAMS

1. One Happy Camper Grants

All first time Jewish overnight campers are eligible for one of following incentive grants. Each incentive grants is its own program therefore cannot be combined. When applying for any incentive grant at www.onehappycamper.org you will automatically be slotted into the grant you qualify for. For further information and/or assistance please contact our office at (858) 499-1330.

SAN DIEGO (1 year Grant)
  • Cannot have been to overnight Jewish summer camp for 12 or more consecutive days
  • Entering grades (2nd - 11th) in fall 2013
  • Cannot be enrolled in Jewish day school (attends public or non-Jewish private school)
  • 2 week session or longer
  • Resident of San Diego county
  • 2 Weeks = $700 / 4+ Weeks = $1000

LOS ANGELES
  • Never been to Jewish overnight summer camp
  • Entering grades (2nd - 11th) in fall 2013
  • Cannot be enrolled in Jewish day school (attends public or non-Jewish private school)
  • 12-day session or longer
  • Resident of Greater Los Angeles
Year 1
2 Weeks = $750
3 Weeks = $1250


CAMP MOUNTAIN CHAI (1 Year Grant)
  • Never been to Jewish overnight summer camp
  • Entering grades (2nd - 11th) in fall 2013
  • 2 week session or longer
  • 2 Weeks = $700 / 4+ Weeks = $1000

PJ GOES TO CAMP (1 Year Grant)
  • Families must have participated in the PJ Library program
  • Includes all siblings and children who have "aged out" of the program
  • Jewish Day School children are eligible
  • Family must have been enrolled in the PJ Library program prior to 9/1/10.
  • Need PJ Goes to Camp code (If needed contact Kirstin Gadiel for assistance at 419-439-1968 or kirstin@hgf.org)
  • 2 Weeks = $700 / 4+ Weeks = $1000


CAMP DISCOUNTS

2. Early Bird Discount
  • Early Bird 1: Camp Tuition PAID IN FULL by January 1, 2013
  • Early Bird 2: Deposit PAID IN FULL by January 1, 2013; Full Tuition Payment received by May 1, 2013
NOTE: Early Bird Discount is not available for the Kavanah Program The tuition cost for this program is already discounted.

3. Sibling Discounts
Any family that sends two or more campers receives $75 off each child enrolled for 2 or more weeks.



CMC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

4. Needs Based Scholarship Program
Needs based scholarships are also available from Camp Mountain Chai. An application must be submitted and reviewed by the Camp Mountain Chai Scholarship Committee. All Camp Mountain Chai Scholarships in this category are based on need and subject to available funds.

The application deadline is March 15, 2013 and families will be notified in early May. Applications from late enrollees will be reviewed as space and funds permit.

ADDITIONAL FINANCIAL INFORMATION

5. "Mountain Chai Mingles" aka Home Presentations
  • Support camp and save money!
  • We supply everything (drinks, snacks, plates, cups, napkins, camp brochures, ect.) to make this a fun and informative experience for both kids and parents.
  • Host a "Mountain Chai Mingle" at your home, invite at least two families who have not sent their child(ren) to CMC in the past.
  • Receive $100 off your tuition for each new family that registers for camp that was in attendance

6. Referrals
Refer a new family to CMC and receive $100 off your summer tuition for each family you refer to CMC who registers at least one camper for a minimum of 2 weeks you will receive a $100 credit towards your account.

7. Payment Plans - CMC offers payment plan options to make paying for camp a little easier for our camp families. If needed, we recommend beginning a payment plan for your family as soon as possible. If you would like to set up a payment plan for your child please follow these 4 Easy steps.
  • Register online
  • Pay your deposit to reserve your spot
  • Contact the camp office and speak with one of our directors to set up interest free monthly payments.
    Note: Camper balance must be paid off by the time your camper is scheduled to arrive at camp.
8. Your local Synagogue
Most synagogues offer some sort of camp scholarships for their members. Contact your local synagogue and inquire about how to apply for a Jewish summer camp scholarship. Most have deadlines for these scholarships so contact yours as soon as possible.

9. Your local Jewish Federation
Most local Jewish Federation's offer some sort of Jewish summer camp scholarship. Each Federation runs their camp scholarship program a bit different. Contact your local Federation to find out about deadlines, applications, and qualifications.

10. Jewish Free Loan
A Jewish non-profit lender that will give interest free loans for camp. Better than putting it on your credit card because there is no interest. For more information visit the JFL website http://www.jfla.org/
